It feels like Sephora just held a bonus event—the most recent one was in August, which was unusual. Typically Sephora only does two of these a year: one in the spring and one in the fall. I most likely won’t make Rouge status for 2019, so I wanted to take advantage of that 20% off while I could. So I went a little ham on my order…but I’m excited about my new goodies!
Before I get into this week’s Friday Five I want to acknowledge the saddest thing. Last Friday afternoon we put our wonderful 19-year-old cat Walter to sleep. It has truly been a week of high highs and low lows. I want to do a whole post about Walter, but I’m not quite there yet.
1. Our New Home: John and I closed on a townhouse on Halloween morning! We won’t be moving in immediately, but we are super excited to own our very own home together. The place has a beautiful backyard AND a roof terrace. VERY VERY EXCITED!
Happy November! I go through phases where I empty a lot of products, and October was one of those months. For the first time, I had to take two separate pics of everything I finished!
Year four of 31 Days of Horror is now complete! Here’s the full list of movies that I watched…I will probably break this up into weekly posts next year because I know no one is going to read all the way to the bottom of this very long post. 😛
October 1: Jigsaw (2017). I selected this movie to kick off the month mostly because I noticed that it had just been added to Hulu and I hadn’t seen it yet. I’ve always enjoyed the Saw franchise, although the twists and turns can be tiresome. It had been years since I saw the most recent installment so I was fuzzy on the details, though that didn’t really matter. As per usual, the torture and killing devices were clever, and I did enjoy the ending. Bonus points for Callum Keith Rennie!
October 2: Final Exam (1981). Cheesy 80s slashers are always entertaining. This one included a Brett Kavanaugh-like douche frat boy, a racist lawn jockey, a solid wedgie pick from of a pair of epic mom jeans, and a faked mass shooting on a college campus that absolutely would not fly in a movie today. Nothing special about this one, but the crappy acting is good for a laugh.Continue Reading…
1. Harvest Chocolates: I made a Trader Joe’s run this week and picked up these absolutely adorable Belgian chocolates! They were too cute not to buy, and are almost too cute to eat. I’ve had a couple of them so far and they’re delicious. I believe a box of eight chocolates cost $3.99. They’d be a sweet host/hostess gift for the holidays.
My October 2018 Play! by Sephora box came a little earlier than usual this month. It took me a few days to get my shit together to film my unboxing video and write this post…but here it is!
1. The Haunting of Hill House: Netflix loves to drop shows without much fanfare. At least, I didn’t feel like I had any awareness that this show was coming. I am six episodes in and am LOVING IT. This show, based on Shirley Jackson’s book (which I haven’t read), is legit creepy but also very emotional. And the cast is GREAT. I don’t want to say more than that, but if you’re into horror, watch this show!
Most eyeshadow palettes these days are warm-toned, and people go nuts every time a new one is released. Personally, I feel rather lukewarm about warm palettes (see what I did there, hehe). I’ve dabbled with a couple, but usually end up not liking how many of the shades look on me, particularly reds, pinks, and oranges. So I was excited when ColourPop released the cool-toned Fame palette awhile back!
1. Maryland Renaissance Festival: John and I went to this fest for the second year in a row! We had a good time last year so we wanted to check it out again (though we skipped costume rentals this time). Last Saturday was a great day to go because the weather was just right…clearly everyone else felt the same way because it was CROWDED. We enjoyed ourselves, especially at the show by The Danger Committee. Those guys were a blast to watch! Also, Pennywise was there. YIKES.
I can’t say that I’m a Disney fan. I don’t dislike Disney, but I’m not super into it. However! When I heard there was a ColourPop Disney collaboration and then saw the eyeshadow palette, I had to have it…and a couple other items as well.
