1. Baby Yoda: if you haven’t heard of this adorable little nugget, you’re living under the biggest rock known to humankind. Disney+ somehow managed to keep the biggest secret of its new Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, under wraps before release. And when The Child that we’re all calling Baby Yoda made its (his?) first appearance, we all died of cuteness. Funko announced they’re coming out with Baby Yoda Pops next May, and I’ve already pre-ordered one. I CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE MY VERY OWN.
I didn’t have a lot of empties in November…I think that’s an indication that I have too much stuff! I’m always bouncing back and forth between a few skin care options for both my morning and nighttime routine. So I’m going to try to work on finishing up some products that I’m starting to run low on.
1. Introducing…Our New Cats! Our home has felt empty ever since we said goodbye to sweet Zoe in September. We recently started to feel ready to bring new kitties into our lives, so we went to a couple area shelters to meet some cats. These two super sweet bonded orange boys are just the type of cats we were looking for. Their names were Jack and Josh but we’ve changed them to Cheddar and Linus; they’re supposedly two and five years old, respectively. We think they’re both more like three or four. We applied to adopt them the day we met them, and then brought them home last Thursday. So far they’ve been adjusting very well to their new home. They’re such sweeties; Cheddar is a total love bug lap cat, and Linus is very playful but also likes affection. It’s wonderful to have some little fur buddies around again!
Well, beauty fans, the latest Sephora Bonus Event has come and gone. My holiday haul is comprised of four separate purchases: two in-store and two online. And in the process, I leveled up to Rouge status—my second time ever hitting Rouge. Yay!/Yikes?
There’s one thing I bought that I’m not sharing here because I might use it to do a giveaway on my Instagram account. I haven’t decided whether I’ll do the giveaway yet…I’ve never done one before and I hear they can bring out the crazies. 😛
1. Joker: John and I finally saw this movie last weekend and wow…I was blown away. I know the film is polarizing but I’m on board with it. Joaquin Phoenix was fucking incredible and I already have my fingers crossed for an Oscar for him. Yes, the movie is violent. It’s violent in a very visceral way because the violence is *somewhat* sparing in comparison to other comic book movies. When the violence takes place, it’s much more intimate than, say, a villain wiping out hundreds of innocents in one fell swoop (or finger snap)..and it really hits you because it feels very real.
You may or may not be aware that Sephora’s Holiday Bonus is already underway for Rouge Members (I currently only have VIB status). Not to worry: VIB Members and Beauty Insiders get our own discount between November 7 and November 11!
Time for another empties post! I finished up a bunch of beauty products in early October but my emptying waned as the month progressed. Still, I emptied a fair amount of stuff.
My fifth annual 31 Days of Horror challenge is complete! I watched 33 movies this year—there were two days in which I managed to watch two films. As per usual, this challenge got a little tedious near the end of the month, but fortunately there is no shortage of streaming horror movies to choose from. In fact, picking a movie each day was the hardest part. The infinite scroll struggle is real!
Week 1
October 1: The Cabin in the Woods (2011). I’ve seen this movie two or three times before, but it’s always entertaining. I decided to kick the month off with it because I recently started listening to Cabin Minute Cast, which got me in the mood for a rewatch!
October 2: Witchboard (1986). Starring Stephen Nichols (Patch from Days of Our Lives!) and 80s video vixen Tawny Kitaen. Was this a quality film? No. Was it better than I expected? Yes. It held my attention, at least. And I appreciated the nods to The Shining and The Evil Dead in the final act. It also cracked me up that Ms. Kitaen’s nail color was different in every scene. Great job, continuity team!
1. Halloween Party Makeup: last weekend I went to a crime scene-themed Halloween party. I was tasked to dress as the murderer (we also had a victim, a detective, a medical examiner, and a cop), but I’m super lazy about costumes so I just did fun makeup. I’m really happy with how it turned out! Makeup details are in this Instagram post.
I was recently accepted for a Palm collaboration with sunscreen brand MDSolarSciences! So I paid an access fee for the opportunity to try the Mineral Crème SPF 50 (this is not a sponsored post). Of course I wanted to share my thoughts about the sunscreen here with you. Please read on, and if you like what you read, I have a 25% off discount code for you (which I do not earn commission on)!
