My October 2024 Horror Watchlist
I’ve done it: I completed my tenth consecutive 31 Days of Horror! My complete list of films is shown in the photo below, but read on to find out my short impressions of each one.

Happy Sephora Rouge Savings Event Day! See this post for more details about the savings event dates. I’m bummed that my favorite month is over, but I do enjoy cozy season and cooler weather.
I emptied a fair amount of beauty products last month, many of which were kindly gifted by brands. Read on to see which products I would repurchase (or would purchase on my own, for products that were gifted).
It’s almost that time of year again: the Sephora semi-annual savings event will be here before we know it! As per usual, I have a ton of stuff in my cart but will end up editing it down at least somewhat.
1. RHAP Live in NYC: last week, we traveled to NYC for our third live Rob Has a Podcast Survivor event! I’ve been to one in DC and another one in NY before, and they are always a total blast. Nothing beats watching a Survivor episode in a theater with 900 other fans. Watching a live podcast immediately afterward featuring former players is always a good time as well. My photos from the event aren’t great, but you can watch the full podcast here. And if you can manage to get tickets, the afterparty is super, super fun! I love meeting other fans and talking to players. 10/10 would recommend if you’re a Survivor fan.
From time to time, I’ll see something on social media that I buy immediately. I did so when I learned about the ColourPop x Pokemon collection, and I did it again as soon as I found out that the brand had launched a Stranger Things collection. I began adding a few items to my cart and then realized it would make more sense to purchase the full collection…so that’s what I did. I absolutely love the packaging, especially the highlighter milk carton and the blush cassette tape:
1. NORTHERN LIGHTS IN DC!!!!! This week’s geomagnetic storm resulted in the aurora borealis being visible waaaaay more south than usual. A little after sunset yesterday, I saw someone in the Northeast US post a pic of the Northern Lights. So I decided to go to our roof deck and take photos to see if I could see anything. When I first went outside, it just looked like a normal evening. Once I began taking photos, the aurora borealis popped up in them. For some reason, our phone cameras can capture the phenomenon really well! I ran inside to tell John to come upstairs with his phone so he could experience it too. I have been dying to see the Northern Lights, and could not believe that my first time seeing them was from my own roof deck!!!
FYI, the Northern Lights may be visible tonight too, though probably not as intense. Go outside a little after sunset and snap photos of the sky!
Happy October!! It’s my final summer empties post of the year! I didn’t empty a ton of products, but I still had a fair amount, along with a couple of sheet masks (see below):
Happy Almost October! Can you believe that 2024 marks my TENTH year doing 31 Days of Horror?! For some reason I was thinking this was my eighth or ninth year, but I checked last year’s full watch list and 2023 was actually my ninth. Wild!
1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: I was so excited to finally go see this movie last weekend! We went to the Beetlejuice Afterlife Experience in LA right before the movie opened, but didn’t get a chance to actually see the film until now. TBH, I thought the pacing at the start was a little slow, but once it picked up I really enjoyed the movie. I laughed a bunch and had a great time. The OG film is one of my all-time favorites, and though I wouldn’t add this installment to my list of all-timers, I still enjoyed it and would happily watch it again.
Happy Friday the 13th! Just in time for spooky season to kick into gear!
1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience: John and I went to this pop-up in Hollywood last week with a couple friends. Had we gone on our own we may not have stayed super long, but since we were catching up with friends we sat in the Afterlife Diner chatting and eating for awhile and enjoyed ourselves. There are lots of cool photo ops, as well as costumed characters roaming around who will pose for pics with you. Attendees got in the spirit with Beetlejuice gear, lending an extra festive vibe. I painted my nails black, purple, and green; I also wore a Halloween shirt, Beetlejuice makeup (see below), and attached an Adam Maitland bag clip to my purse. All very subtle, but IYKYK. If you’re a Beetlejuice fan (which of course I am), check it out! I haven’t gotten to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice yet, but I hope to very soon.
