Final Empties of 2024

Happy New Year! I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, but since a few days after the election I’ve been avoiding the news and will likely continue to do so for awhile. I am very concerned about the next four years in the US, but I don’t have the bandwidth for four more years of constant news stress. Humans aren’t built for long term hyper-vigilance or the emotional management of breaking news alerts in concert with outrage.

On to more lighthearted things, like my beauty empties from December 2024. I emptied so many items at the end of the year!

December 2024 Beauty Empties

Would I Repurchase?
  • Nécessaire The Hand Cream [gifted; affiliate link]: there’s something about the texture of this that I don’t love; it’s a little slippery for me. I think I have a bit of  a sensory issue with stuff on my fingertips. I have another tube of this hand cream that the brand gifted me and I will use it, but I wouldn’t buy on my own.
  • Dieux Instant Angel Lipid Rich Facial Moisturizer, Fragrance-Free [affiliate link]: I’ve been using this as my AM moisturizer and I love it. I’m on my second tube.
  • Dieux Auracle Reviving Eye Gel [affiliate link]: a very hydrating eye gel. This was my second bottle and I would repurchase again.
  • Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair [affiliate link]: this was from a starter FabFitFun box YEARS ago. I didn’t use it much for a long time, but I finally decided to start using a bit of it regularly after showering. It was fine; nothing groundbreaking for me, so I wouldn’t buy on my own.
  • Osmosis Boost Peptide Activating Mist [affiliate link]: I’ve gone through several bottles of this and would buy again. The spray pump component gives off such a fine mist.
  • Cocokind Retinol Body Cream [gifted; affiliate link]: this body cream didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, which was great. I don’t think I noticed any difference in my body skin while using it, aside from general hydration. I like that the brand has incorporated a reduced-waste cap, but the flip-top broke off when I had nearly emptied the tube. So the packaging could use a little work. I wouldn’t buy this on my own.
  • Biolage Full Density Shampoo [affiliate link]: this shampoo works well for my hair. It doesn’t necessarily make it look fuller, but I do see less fallout when I use it. I will repurchase.
  • Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream mini [affiliate link]: YTTP has gifted me products but I bought this on my own. I love this cream and will continue to buy it.
  • Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Shimmer Body Wash mini: from this year’s 12 Days of Beauty Box. It smelled sweet and had a fun shimmer, but I was glad the shimmer didn’t cling to my skin after showering. I don’t really want to be shimmery or smell like candy all the time, so this isn’t something I’d buy full sized if they offered it.
  • Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum [gifted; affiliate link]: a really good hydrating serum. The brand has gifted me a couple more bottles and I’m using one of them now. Would purchase on my own.
  • Youth to the People Superfood Skin Drip [gifted; affiliate link]: this was a nice hydrating serum. I prefer the brand’s Vitamin C serum so I would buy that over this one, but I was happy I got to try it.
  • Glow Recipe Strawberry BHA Pore-Smooth Blur Drops mini [affiliate link]: this was fine, I wouldn’t buy full sized.
  • Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly in Pistachio [affiliate link]: LOVE. This is one of the few lip products that I can easily empty. And this shade is a perfect nude pink for me. I have a few other shades of this gloss and will happily buy more.
Masking & More

December 2024 mask empties

  • Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra Solution Pro Plump & Glow Sheet Mask [affiliate link]: I almost always like this brand’s sheet masks and will continue to buy them.
  • Patchology Flashmasque Hydrate 5 Minute Sheet Mask [gifted; affiliate link]: this brand’s masks are great as well! I have purchased this mask on my own and would do so again.
  • Frownies Chin-Up Polypeptide Mask for Neck & Chin: hard to say if just one use of this mask did anything, but I do have a second one so we’ll see how that goes.
  • Sephora Collection De-Puffing Eye Masks [affiliate link]: free gift for attending the opening of a new Sephora store. I don’t recall if it de-puffed all that well but it did feel soothing. Would consider buying.
  • Sonia Kashuk Shine Luxe Sheer Lip Colour in Sheer Pink Lust: a declutter that had been in my purse for WAY too long. I’m so bummed that this makeup line has been discontinued at Target. But I will hang onto this as a reference for a really great pinky nude shade for my lips.
  • Rare Beauty Find Comfort Hydrating Under Eye Patches x 2 [affiliate link]: these feel so soothing and I would repurchase.
  • Trader Joe’s Rice Polish Cleansing Powder: from the 2023 12 Days of Beauty Box. This little packet contained enough product for four or five washes. I liked it and would buy full sized if they ever release it.

Congratulations on getting through all of my December empties! I hope you have a happy, healthy, and safe 2025. Make sure you take some time for yourself and don’t fall down the media doomscrolling rabbithole or trap or whatever you want to call it. Get some fresh air and sunshine, and move your body. It certainly won’t fix our country, but it can really help with your mood and mental health.
