Spooky Season Beauty Empties
Hello, November! I’m bummed that my favorite month is now over, but I did have a great October and will keep spooky season alive by leaving my Halloween decor out for a bit.
After a light empties month in September, I’m back with quite a few beauty empties in October!
1. Maryland Renaissance Festival: we finally returned to the Ren Fest for the first time since 2018! We went on the final day of the season, which is apparently called the Day of Wrong, where folks dress up in costumes. I didn’t find out about the Day of Wrong until the next morning, and had wondered why so many more people were cosplaying than usual. I had just assumed all the costumes were because it was so close to Halloween. It began to rain an hour or so after our arrival, but we actually appreciated the rain because it cleared out some of the crowd. We grabbed dinner and drinks under our umbrellas and wandered around taking in the sights; we caught part of a glassblowing demo and the Danger Committee show, as well as the last joust of the season. Huzzah!
Beauty lovers, are you ready for the 2022 Sephora Holiday Savings Event? The Rouge 20% off discount starts tomorrow (October 28) and I have an overstuffed cart ready to go. LOL…I am definitely going to need to edit my cart down before smashing that purchase button.
1. Cheddar & Linus Hit 10k: amazingly, our cats’ Instagram account hit 10,000 followers this week!! I started their account for fun in February 2020, and it has grown 100% organically since then. All I do is post once a day and interact with our cat friends there. Our boys’ account is ten times as popular as my beauty account…lol. I guess people just love cute cats!!

1. Nalls Produce: last weekend we made a morning trip to this place to shop for pumpkins to decorate our stoop, as we did last year. We bought some nontraditional pumpkin colors and shapes, along with some fun gourds. Our stoop and yard aren’t that big so we have limited space to decorate, but I love picking out interesting pumpkins to display! We also bought a pack of apple cider donuts, which are absolutely delicious. Obviously, I couldn’t leave without taking photos by their pumpkin wall.
1. Loungefly Trick ‘r Treat Sam Cosplay Mini Backpack: I learned about this backpack months ago, but Loungefly didn’t release it until late September. I made sure to set a calendar reminder for the launch date and time so I could get one; I’m glad I did because it appears to be sold out. This mini backpack is SO cute! This is my first Loungefly purchase, and I’m impressed with the quality and details. The lining inside has a Trick ‘r Treat pattern, and the zipper pull is Sam’s little candy weapon. I’m so happy I managed to snag one. This will be fun to wear to SDCC next year*, or just during spooky season in general.

A Light Beauty Empties Month
Happy Fall! The best month of the year is here…woohoo!! Today kicks off my eighth year of 31 Days of HorrorChallenge, where I watch at least one horror movie a day for the month of October. I already have a list of movies I want to watch! Actual footage of me this month:
Soooo…I didn’t empty many products in September. We traveled to LA for almost a week and I mostly packed minis, so I didn’t use as much of my usual products as I would have without traveling. Let’s take a look at what I did empty:

Fun Nail Polish + Halloween Decor
1. Mooncat Nail Polish: you know how sometimes Instagram ads are really well targeted? And then you order the thing and it’s kind of a letdown? Well, this is not one of those situations. I kept seeing ads for this indie cruelty-free, vegan nail polish brand so I caved and ordered three polishes. AND I LOVE THEM. I’ve already ordered three more drool-inducing shades as well as their base and top coats (which I have yet to try). From left to right in the below pic: Blood Moon, Millennia—a magnetic polish that comes with a magnetic wand—and Mortals Be Warned. I’ve used all three of these and they are fantastic! The shades are gorgeously multifaceted, and Millennia truly looks like a tiny galaxy on each nail. I do my own nails and these polishes last about three days before starting to chip, which on me, is actually good performance. With other polishes I get chips after a day or two. If you’re into at-home manis, check out Mooncat.com. [This is not an ad, I just love these nail polishes!]
1. Mountain Drive: last week, we headed to LA for six days of visiting family and friends. John’s family has a cabin at Lake Arrowhead that we had never been to together, so we finally made it a point to stay there! We drove up early one morning and were treated to incredibly gorgeous vistas once we got above the cloud line. We pulled over at a few different overlook spots along the drive so we could take it all in. I’m not sure I’ve seen anything like this before (not counting flying above the clouds on airplanes). It was surreal, in the best way.
1. Thor: Love and Thunder: on Labor Day, I went to see a movie for the first time since December 2019!! We went to see Taika Watiti’s second Thor movie, which wasn’t as great as Thor: Ragnarok (my favorite Marvel movie). But it was still a lot of fun—the perfect choice for going back to the theater. Marvel movies are definitely best seen on the big screen, so I’m very happy that I finally returned (with mask firmly on…I still mask indoors).
