Retail Therapy Time
Things are very crazy in the US right now, and that’s about all I’ll say about that. I’ve been avoiding the news like mad and will continue to do so for awhile, so ANY distraction is very welcome right now. In happy news, today is the fifth adoptaversary of our awesome cats Cheddar and Linus! We will be celebrating with extra cuddles and, of course, Churus.
Another perfect distraction? Talking and blogging about my Sephora haul from the store’s fall 2024 savings event.
I filmed a haul video to add to my YouTube channel; you can watch it here:
Haul Part One
As stated in my video, I only placed two online orders and did no in person shopping this time around.
Here’s my first order:
Here’s my second order, which I placed the morning after Election Day as a form of retail therapy:

The Skin Care
I’d like to talk a little bit about some of the new-to-me products from my haul. I am currently using the Dieux Instant Angel moisturizer as well as their Auracle Eye Gel, and I really like both. So I decided to try the Dieux Baptism Cleanser too. Apparently they have both fragranced and fragrance-free versions. I unintentionally ordered fragrance-free, which I don’t mind. It’ll be a little while before I empty the cleansers that I’m working on, but I am really looking forward to trying this one since the brand’s other products are so good.
Iris & Romeo is a new-ish brand at Sephora, but I had heard about it before they arrived there. I’ve used their Best Skin Days and Power Peptide Lip Balm and REALLY liked both. So I wanted to try more from the brand. This mini duo seemed like a good place to start…I do wish the SPF mini was larger than .5 ounces, but at least I’ll be able to get a few uses out of it. I’ve had my eye on that SPF for awhile, and it’s pricey ($50 f0r 1.18 ounces) so I’m glad I can try it before buying it full sized. The mist has good reviews, so I can’t wait to try it out too!
Speaking of mists, this new Summer Fridays one caught my eye so I decided to get it. I sometimes order the expensive Tata Harper Floral Essence (which I LOVE) during the savings event, but this time I went with a much more affordable mist. I haven’t tried many Summer Fridays products because TBH I haven’t loved the couple that I have tried. So we’ll see if this one changes my mind about the brand.
While browsing face masks, this Tula Mask Stick caught my eye. I had been considering getting a Tatcha clay mask that I’ve used and liked, but this stick was half the price of the Tatcha mask. The stick form sounds appealing because it’s easy to throw in your bag for travel. I hope it’s easy to glide onto my face!
Though single-use products are bad for the environment, I still use them from time to time. When I saw that Glow Recipe released a sheet mask, I added two to my cart. This brand gets a ton of love on social media, and while I haven’t tried their entire line, I’ve really liked the products that I’ve tried. Particularly their watermelon clay mask, which seems like it may have been discontinued? Maybe it’s being reformulated? I hope it comes back. Anyway, this sheet mask sounds like it’ll be a really good winter skin treat.
The Luxury Lip
My one super luxury item from this haul is the Westman Atelier lip suede compact. From top to bottom, the shades are warm rose, peony, café crème, and mulled wine. I’ve had my eye on this beauty for awhile and finally decided to order it. They also offer this compact with four red shades, but nudes are way more my speed. It’ll be fun to play around with these shades and mix up what will hopefully be a perfect nude lip.
The Nars Explicit Lipstick is refillable, which I forgot to mention in my YouTube video. It’s rare that I empty an actual lipstick, but it’s great to see brands offer refills. (Though it looks like only three of the nineteen shades currently have refills available for purchase on Sephora.) This shade, Unrestrained, is described as a deep garnet. In the photo below it looks like a rusty brick red, but the swatches online look like a really dark berry. I haven’t yet swatched the lipstick because I want to see if I can get some more color-accurate photos first, but whatever the color is, it looks like it’ll be great for fall and winter.
The Deo
My friend and I were DMing each other screen shots of our Sephora orders and I saw that she had ordered the Salt & Stone Mini Deodorant Set. I asked her about it, and she said she really liked their scents. I’m almost out of my current deodorant, so I decided to get this set of aluminum-free deos. The set has a nice heft to it, and the scents all smell really good. Scents included are: Santal & Vetiver, Bergamot & Hinoki, Neroli & Basil, and Black Rose & Oud. As I mentioned in my haul video, I am going to try Black Rose & Oud first.
Thanks for reading (and maybe also watching)! I know things feel really shitty and scary right now for A LOT of Americans. Make sure you take some time to take care of yourself, and try not to doomscroll. Personally, I’ve been making a point to meditate (I use Headspace) and exercise regularly (walks, Pilates classes, and MadFit workouts…she has lots of free ones on YouTube). I really do think it helps. Stay sane and healthy, folks.
