Plenty of Beauty Empties

I’m kind of amazed at how many products I’ve been emptying lately. Though I haven’t done an official no-buy or low-buy, the pandemic has caused me to rethink my buying habits. So I’ve been better about purchasing things I need rather than things that I just want to try. Thus, I’m using up more of what I already had in my skin care stash. It feels so good to finish up products that I’ve had sitting around for too long!

Here are the sheet masks I used:

My Thoughts

I’m pretty stocked on skin care at the moment and have FabFitFun en route, so I won’t be buying much soon. When it’s time to buy more products, though, I’ll be looking to see how supportive (or not) the brands I’m considering have been regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.

  • Whole Foods 365 Herbal Mint Shampoo: I enjoy minty hair care! This shampoo is pretty good, except I have to use a lot more of it than I do with other shampoos.
  • Primera Wild Seed Firming Serum {Gifted}: this serum has a really unique stretchy texture. I used it at night and didn’t see a ton of difference in wrinkles, but occasionally I’d wake up thinking my forehead lines looked smoother.
  • Korres Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Facial: loved this product from my Spring 2019 FFF box! The rose smell is lovely and my skin drinks this stuff in.
  • Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque: loved this mask! It brightens and exfoliates simultanously.
  • Evanhealy Whipped Shea Butter for Lips: I also received this in last year’s Whole Foods beauty bag. It’s SO GOOD.
  • bareMinerals Pureness Soothing Light Moisturizer {Gifted}: this moisturizer wasn’t my favorite. I had trouble with it pilling with a variety of my other skin care products. I think if you can find a non-pilling combo, though, it’s probably good.
  • Skyn Iceland Icelandic Youth Serum {Gifted}: this was a nice serum; I don’t think it did much to lighten any dark spots, but my skin tone was bright while I used it daily in the morning.
  • Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cream: such a lovely cream. This one came in my 2019 Whole Foods Limited Edition Beauty Bag. It’s been renamed Sensitive Care Facial Cream – Almond. It’s a little expensive for the size but I really liked it.
  • Wander Beauty Glow Getter Mist: I really enjoyed this mist and have a backup to crack into.
  • Heretic Parfum Dirty Jasmine Mini: my first-ever fragrance empty here! This mini came in a discovery set that I got as a birthday gift last year. I’ve been mixing and matching the different scents and this was by far my fave…I now have a full sized version.
  • Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant Pink Grapefruit & Glucomannan Extract: this came in my Fall 2018 FFF box and I didn’t love it. The strong sandalwood scent lingered and it’s quite pricey.
  • Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream Mini: from Sephora’s 500-point “Skin’s Happy Place” set. I’ve tried this cream before and it’s fine, nothing too exciting for me.
  • Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask Mini: from Sephora’s 2019 Soko to Tokyo set. It was alright…it didn’t irritate my skin (possibly because retinol is not high on the ingredient list), but I don’t feel like it did much for me, either.
  • Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream: also from the Whole Foods beauty bag. It’s more of a creamy exfoliant, but I liked it.
Sheet Masks
  • CuraPure CBD Oil Infused Super-Charged Face Mask {Gifted but I bought one on my own before the brand offered me one}: really like this mask. It’s expensive for a single sheet mask but good for an occasional splurge.
  • 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask: from my summer 2019 FabFitFun box. These are okay, but in my opinion they’re not worth the high price tag.
  • GLAMGLOW Eyeboost Reviving Eye Mask: this is a fun and refreshing superhero-looking mask!
  • Benton Aloe Soothing Mask Pack: this mask came in a Soko Glam hydration set that I got for my birthday last year, and I liked it.
  • Karuna Clarifying+ Face Mask: from a mask pack in my Winter 2019 FabFitFun box. I’ve enjoyed all the ones I’ve used so far.

That’s a wrap on June! I know that COVID-19 cases are rising again in some areas. Please make sure to follow whatever guidelines your local government has put in place, such as they may be. In addition to maintaining social distance and wearing a mask when you’re around others, don’t forget to wash your hands often and avoid touching your face!
