My First Empties Post in Months
I didn’t have enough empties earlier this summer to warrant an entire post, so I saved up my containers for a larger show-and-tell.

I didn’t have enough empties earlier this summer to warrant an entire post, so I saved up my containers for a larger show-and-tell.

1. Sharp Objects: HBO has done it again with this sumptuously dark tale of a small town in Missouri. I won’t say anything more about the story than that, but the show is exquisite. The leading ladies are perfect, from Amy Adams’ Camille to Patricia Clarkson’s Adora to Eliza Scanlon’s Amma. I had read and enjoyed Gillian Flynn’s book so I remembered the main points, but the show left me feeling like I absolutely need to re-read it, and soon.

One of the best times of the year is happening this week! Sephora is currently running a 20% off event for Rouge members; VIB Members and Beauty Insiders get 15% and 10% off, respectively, from 8/30 through 9/3. More details here! I bought two things in-store the day the sale kicked off, and I ordered the rest online. When my package arrived I decided to make a video sharing my summer 2018 Sephora discount haul! Please check it out, then read more on my haul below. I really gotta try not to say “um” so much in my videos. Gotta love my derpy video thumbnail, too. 😛
1. Wet n Wild Fire Dragon vs. Ice Dragon: when I heard that Wet n Wild was coming out with a Game of Thrones-inspired collection I knew I had to get my hands on at least some of it. My local drugstores aren’t the best at stocking the hottest new beauty products, so I was surprised to spot this collection at Walgreens this week! The display was down on a bottom shelf where I almost completely missed it. I immediately picked up the two brushes and the blue highlighter (shade: Halo Walkers). I don’t even want to use the highlighter because it’s SO beautiful that I don’t want to mess it up! I’ll definitely use the dragon scale-handled brushes, though. How cute is this stuff?? Bonus: it’s vegan and cruelty-free!

I’m running behind on posting about my latest Play! by Sephora box because I was in California again when it arrived. But here I am with another unboxing video and post with my initial impressions about my August 2018 “Beauty Schooled” samples!
Well, folks, Sephora is doing it again. And by “it” I mean they’re holding another Beauty Insider Appreciation Event! Rouge members will get 20% off everything* starting THIS FRIDAY, August 24 through September 3. VIB and Beauty Insider members can take 15% off and 10% off, respectively, between August 30 and September 3. Offer can be redeemed online once or as many times as you want in-store

1. SkinFood Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask [paid link]: I haven’t shared a sheet mask in a Friday Five in awhile! This one came in the Soko Glam anti-aging sheet mask set that I got for my birthday. This mask is different from most other sheet masks I’ve tried; it comes in two pieces and it’s a slippery gel rather than a serum-soaked cotton. The pieces were hard to handle, but once I had affixed them I was comfortable. I always love an extra Lecter-y sheet mask, and this is definitely one of them. The mask left a bit of a sticky residue, but my skin felt nice and moisturized afterward.

It feels like there’s almost always some kind of sale going on in the beauty world. Ulta ran a “Forever Fabulous” sale this week in conjunction with 2x rewards points, so (DUH) I ordered a few things. My package shipped SO FAST—it showed up the next day! Check out what I received in my latest Ulta sale haul:

Some beauty brands are killing it when it comes to convincing customers buy their products regularly; ColourPop is one of said brands. They offer frequent promotions—I don’t think it’s exaggerating to say their deals come biweekly. In fact, as of this writing they’re running a BOGO deal on their Super Shock Shadows. Though their regular prices are already very affordable, their promos are so hard to resist! So here I am sharing another ColourPop haul with some products I’m super stoked about.

1. Portrait Mode: on our girls’ getaway, one of my friends had a new iPhone with portrait mode. So we played around with taking portraits and man…the photos made me want to upgrade my phone. I have an iPhone 8, which doesn’t have portrait mode. The feature makes photos look professionally shot! Fingers crossed that Apple will add portrait mode to a future OS update for the 8.
