Late Summer Sephora Beauty Insider Appreciation Event
Well, folks, Sephora is doing it again. And by “it” I mean they’re holding another Beauty Insider Appreciation Event! Rouge members will get 20% off everything* starting THIS FRIDAY, August 24 through September 3. VIB and Beauty Insider members can take 15% off and 10% off, respectively, between August 30 and September 3. Offer can be redeemed online once or as many times as you want in-store
An All “S” Friday Five: Seaweed Mask, Sun Protection, Sparkles, Succession, and Salad
1. SkinFood Seaweed Marine Food Gel Mask [paid link]: I haven’t shared a sheet mask in a Friday Five in awhile! This one came in the Soko Glamanti-aging sheet mask set that I got for my birthday. This mask is different from most other sheet masks I’ve tried; it comes in two pieces and it’s a slippery gel rather than a serum-soaked cotton. The pieces were hard to handle, but once I had affixed them I was comfortable. I always love an extra Lecter-y sheet mask, and this is definitely one of them. The mask left a bit of a sticky residue, but my skin felt nice and moisturized afterward.
It feels like there’s almost always some kind of sale going on in the beauty world. Ulta ran a “Forever Fabulous” sale this week in conjunction with 2x rewards points, so (DUH) I ordered a few things. My package shipped SO FAST—it showed up the next day! Check out what I received in my latest Ulta sale haul:
Because National Lipstick Day Sale + Zodiac Collection
Some beauty brands are killing it when it comes to convincing customers buy their products regularly; ColourPop is one of said brands. They offer frequent promotions—I don’t think it’s exaggerating to say their deals come biweekly. In fact, as of this writing they’re running a BOGO deal on their Super Shock Shadows. Though their regular prices are already very affordable, their promos are so hard to resist! So here I am sharing another ColourPop haul with some products I’m super stoked about.
1. Portrait Mode: on our girls’ getaway, one of my friends had a new iPhone with portrait mode. So we played around with taking portraits and man…the photos made me want to upgrade my phone. I have an iPhone 8, which doesn’t have portrait mode. The feature makes photos look professionally shot! Fingers crossed that Apple will add portrait mode to a future OS update for the 8.
Celebrating 40 Years of Life + 26 Years of Friendship
Last year a couple of my best friends from high school and I started planning a Napa Valley girls’ getaway to celebrate us all turning 40 this year. We’ve known each other since we were 14 (26 years! math!) and we wanted to make it a point to celebrate this milestone together. They both live in the Bay Area and have kids, so I was happy to fly out their way for our getaway.
Way back at the end of 2017 we booked a cottage at Indian Springs Calistoga to ensure we could get the dates we wanted. Our trip took place last week, and although it was short we had a total blast! So of course I’m recapping it here.
TUESDAY
My flight to San Francisco left Dulles very early so I got picked up by a Lyft at 4am. Good times! Dulles was a complete ghost town when I arrived. You don’t see empty airports very often. Pics or it didn’t happen, right? Witness:
I returned from San Diego almost a week ago but it’s taken me awhile to write my SDCC recap. I came back with a cold and have been in resting mode because in two days I’m heading to Napa for a much-needed girls’ getaway.
I’m delayed on posting my Play! by Sephora review this month #becauseComicCon. My July box arrived while I was in San Diego and I returned a little worse for the wear, so I needed some R&R first (plus, DC has been rainy so I waited to take pics until it brightened up a bit). I also finally shot an unboxing video…please check it out:
Life as been all over the place lately and I skipped a Friday Five a couple weeks in a row. I have a couple more trips coming up soon, but I’m trying to return to my regular blogging routine.
1. It’s Friday! Awhile back I ordered this Friday the 13th t-shirt from TeeTurtle.com because it was on sale. I don’t think they carry it anymore, so I’m glad I was able to snag one! I wore it on Friday, July 13 and I wore it on Friday at Comic-Con even though it was the 20th. I’ll continue wearing it on Friday the 13ths in the future. 😀
Comic-Con 2018 is just a few days away! As I mentioned, this will be my tenth consecutive year (check out my updated SDCC tips for newbies if you’re new to the con). I created SDCC bingo cards again for my friends and I to play as we experience the sights, sounds, and—unfortunately—the smells of SDCC.
Can’t wait to fight through all of these bodies again.
