July was quite a month for me! My first time back at San Diego Comic-Con was a whirlwind. Because I was traveling for a week I packed some minis rather than my full skin care routine. So I didn’t empty a ton of products last month, but I did manage to get through a decent number of items.
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 is now already a week in the rearview mirror. I can’t believe it’s already over, but we have SDCC 2023 to look forward to! In case you missed my recap, you can check it out here.
I did something new this year: I filmed a YouTube video of my SDCC haul! I came home with so much fun stuff that I thought I might as well make a show and tell video in addition to writing about it. Presenting my first SDCC haul video:
I can’t believe my twelfth San Diego Comic-Con has already come and gone. It was so incredible to return to SDCC for the first time since 2019! John and I stayed in San Diego for a full week, so we didn’t return home until this Tuesday afternoon. It’s taken me awhile to gather my thoughts and pick out photos for this recap. I’ll keep it as brief as possible and keep the non-con stuff to a minimum. 🙂
1. The Boys Season 3: I’ve discussed my love for this show before. I was even more excited for the third season due to the addition of Jensen Ackles, of Supernatural fame, as Soldier Boy. Season three did not disappoint, and of course ramped the insanity and vulgarity up to new highs (or lows, as it were). This subversive satire does shit that no one else is doing on TV, and I love it for that. It was so fun to see Jensen back on my screen, doing things that never would have graced our screens on a CW series. This show has been renewed for season four, and I can’t wait.
The first in-person San Diego Comic-Con since COVID hit returns in one week! This year will mark my twelfth year of attendance, so I’ve gathered some advice based on my own experience. That said, no one has any experience attending SDCC during a pandemic, so we’ll just have to see how it goes.

1. Sephora Minis [affiliate links]: I chose the Tatcha set as my Sephora birthday gift this year, which included minis of The Dewy Skin Cream, The Rice Wash, and a sample packet of The Liquid Silk Canvas. I ordered a couple other items (Dr. Jart masks), and then used some points to get a mini Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle Eau de Parfum and an SK-II set that included a tiny Facial Treatment Essence (which I’ve tried before) and a Facial Treatment Mask. I’ll be taking the Tatcha minis to San Diego Comic-Con with me, and I’m excited to use the SK-II goodies! So far the perfume isn’t my favorite, but it’s at least wearable on me.
Happy July, I guess? The US has exploded over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week, and if you follow my blog or Instagram, you already know how I feel about it. Instead of ranting and raging again here, I’ll just say a couple things:
Okay. Now that I’ve addressed this incredibly important topic, let’s move on to another, not-at-all vital subject: my June empties.
1. Stranger Things Mystery Minis: before my birthday, I ordered a couple of these season four blind boxes from Target as kind of a present to myself. And I was pumped to get Hopper and Dustin—two of my favorite characters!! They’re welcome additions to our Funko collection.
My 44th birthday was last Monday, but I’m just now getting around to writing about it because I visited Los Angeles last week! John went out there at the beginning of the month to see family and friends, but I didn’t want to go for the extended visit that he had planned. So I held down the fort at home during the first part of his trip, then flew out to meet him in LA the day after my birthday.
1. Stranger Things Season 4, Part 1: agghhhhh. I love this show so much. I know I talked about it recently in my post about the ST x MAC makeup collection, but I hadn’t started the new episodes at that point. Episode four in particular, “Dear Billy,” is SO good. In case you’re living under a rock, the final scene of that episode is absolutely incredible and will have Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” stuck in your head forever…but not in a bad way. I cannot wait for the second batch of season four episodes in a few weeks!!
