1. Vibrant Bloom: this week, we had a stunningly beautiful flower open up in our back yard pond. To be honest, I don’t even know what type of flower this is. Possibly a lilypad flower. That vibrant pink you see is all-natural—there’s no filter whatsoever on the photo. The flower only lasted a couple days, but wow, did it put on a show!
My Fall 2020 FabFitFun [referral link] box arrived last weekend! I usually post a photo of the cute box design, but this time my shipping labels covered the front, which doesn’t make for a good photo. 😛 So this time you get to see my goodies from the get-go (that’s what she said?):
We enjoyed our first pandemic getaway to an Airbnb in West Virginia so much that we decided to return less than two months later! The place was unavailable for Labor Day weekend so we did a reverse holiday trip by driving there on Labor Day and staying until Friday.
1. Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew: just like last week, I got up early on Wednesday and drove to the same Starbucks drive thru in Virginia to treat myself. This time I tried the pumpkin cream cold brew, and IT IS DELICIOUS. I daresay it’s better than the OG PSL! I will definitely be treating myself to this again…and again.

I did a pretty good job of emptying a variety of beauty products in August: some body care, facial skin care, and even lip and hair care.
1. HBO Max: we used to have an HBO Now subscription but when HBO Max launched, our subscription magically switched over to the new version. And it’s currently one of my favorite streaming services! There’s a ton of quality content available, and they have a whole Turner Classic Movies* section with lots of great films. The TCM selections include 80s movies…I take umbrage at them being deemed “classic;” I grew up on those so that makes me feel old. That said, I’ve already added a ton of stuff to my to-watch list on HBO Max!
Sephora recently offered $20 off purchases of $100 or more, so I decided to order a few things. Prior to that, Tarte held a 30% off sale, so I took advantage and placed an order for a couple items from their website. I’ve already posted about these mini hauls on my Instagram, but I figured why not also write a post combining them here.
Due to the pandemic, San Diego Comic-Con canceled its annual pop culture extravaganza for the first time in its 50-year history. 2020 would have been my twelfth consecutive year attending and I was disappointed, but it was absolutely necessary to cancel. In lieu of the usual in-person event, SDCC did a virtual “@Home” con with panels and a virtual exhibit hall to try to maintain some semblance of a con vibe.
Because we couldn’t go to San Diego, John and I did a more local getaway during this year’s SDCC dates, and I watched some panels and did some nerdy shopping from there. So I wanted to share my little haul!
Well, here we all are still battling this pandemic. I’ve remained pretty good about using up products that have been sitting in my vanity for awhile instead of constantly buying shiny new things to try. So I had a decent number of empties in July, many of which are minis.
If there was no pandemic, we would currently be in San Diego for our twelfth consecutive Comic-Con. Alas, SDCC was (rightfully) canceled. Even if the con hadn’t been nixed, I wouldn’t have been at all comfortable attending, with the pandemic still wreaking havoc. So in lieu of our annual nerd vacation, John and I booked a few nights at an Airbnb in a remote location in West Virginia, where we could bring all of our own food and not go out to eat or come into contact with others.
