Sephora’s semi-annual discount has now come and gone, and I only (LOL) placed two orders to complete my Spring 2021 Sephora Rouge Haul. I’m…proud? I think? It’s always very hard to resist the temptation that is the 20% off Rouge discount. My second order arrived yesterday, so I got to work filming a haul video that you can watch below. Super duper thumbnail! 😛
1. COVID-19 Vaccine Dose #2: I got my second shot this week! So in less than two weeks’ time from now, I’ll be fully vaccinated. I did not feel well the next day, but it’s important to get vaccinated. So, not feeling well for a day was worth it. I’m feeling very grateful that I was able to get my shots!
1. Rituel de Fille: last week, a friend posted on Instagram about a new product launch with a cause. 100% of net proceeds from the launch are going to organizations dedicated to ending AAPI hate, discrimination, and violence. To raise money, this indie brand released two single-batch, limited edition shades of their Ash and Ember Eye Soot: Nightfall, a midnight blue, and Garland, a sparkly pink. I immediately added Nightfall to my cart, but I skipped Garland because I don’t like using pink on my eyes. I did decide to get a second shade, though: Cultist, a beautiful mushroomy shimmer. You can see more photos and swatches on my Instagram. These shades are both stunning, and Nightfall is for an important cause. Both limited edition shades sold out, so I’m happy I ordered when I did.
Wow—I think I hit a personal record last month for emptying products! I’ve been trying to use up what I have rather than constantly buying new things. I’m giving myself an A+ for my March performance. Here’s the facial skin care that I emptied:
1. My First COVID-19 Vaccine Dose! I became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on March 1, but expected it might take a few weeks to get an appointment. DC launched a new pre-registration system last Wednesday, and I was surprised to receive a vaccine appointment invitation the first day emails went out! I got my first dose of the Moderna vaccine earlier this week and have had no reaction to it. My arm has been sore and I’ve been a little tired. But I’m kind of always tired so that doesn’t really mean anything. I feel so grateful to be on my way to being fully vaccinated! Yay science!
Hello, spring! Daylight Saving Time is upon us. It’s been six months since my last FabFitFun [referral link] box! I actually elected to skip the Winter box, because I truly didn’t need more stuff. So FabFitFun applied my Winter box payment to my Spring shipment, which arrived yesterday in this absolutely adorable springy box:
1. Dendrobium Aggregatum: this orchid has been in my collection for literally 11 years without blooming…until now. The first bloom on this plant opened on March 1, and the rest opened up the next day! This is one of those situations that proves that patience can really pay off with orchids.
Happy March! I’m thrilled March is here because it means that spring is around the corner. It snowed a bunch here in DC lately, and I’m OVER IT. We’re still in a pandemic and I’d love some warmer weather for taking walks!

1. Make It Black Products: I mentioned this initiative a couple weeks ago, and the products I ordered have finally all arrived! I bought Cleopatra Ink Afro.Dis.Iac Liquid Eyeliner from Uoma Beauty, Briogeo Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask, and ColourPop Lippie Stix in Galore. I’m very excited to try these products! All of the proceeds from Make it Black products will support Black founders in the early stage of their businesses. 1. Introducing sarahheiman.com! A few months ago I decided to create a personal website as a main hub for my two blogs. I managed to get a .com with my name and designed a site using Squarespace (this is not sponsored in any way, I’m paying for the service). It took me quite some time to put the site together in a way I’m happy with. I finally felt ready to launch the website yesterday…which coincided with the sixth anniversary of Adventures of Herman! I’m pretty proud of myself. John gave me a little assistance and advice along the way, but for the most part I did it all on my own. 🙂 Feel free to head on over and check my new site out.
