Because I’ve recently acquired some organic makeup goodies, including Vapour Organic Beauty samples and Birchbox’s Limited Edition New Naturals box, I decided to challenge myself to do a green beauty look for date night with my husband this past Saturday. I did actually turn out to have just about everything I needed to create a full face using natural makeup!

Here are the products I used:

Clockwise from top left: Au Naturale Cosmetics Organic Creme Highlighter Stick;, Au Naturale Creme Shadow; Au Naturale sampler; tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes; ILIA Beauty Lip Gloss; rms beauty living luminizer; Vapour Organic Beauty Illusionist Concealer; Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation; and Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector. Not pictured: Maybelline Clear Great Lash Mascara

First I used my fingers to apply Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector in shade 902, then followed up with the brand’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation in shade 115. Using my ring finger, I dabbed Vapour Illusionist Concealer in shade 015 underneath my eyes to cover up dark circles. These three products give my face such a lovely, luminous finish. And because I use my fingers and a light touch, those little samples are going a long way!

I used my fingers again to apply the Au Naturale rose gold highlighter to the apples of my cheeks and blend it out. I was a little baffled by the idea of using this product as a highlighter when I first received it in the New Naturals box, but I’m finding the color works well as a blush on me.

On to the eyes! I definitely fall short on my supply of ingredient conscious eye makeup, but having fewer products to choose from forced me to get a little creative. I used my finger to apply the Au Naturale creme shadow in Ivory (from my April 2016 Birchbox sampler) all over my lids, and then I used a thin Bobbi Brown eye liner brush to line my eyes with Au Naturale creme shadow in Addiction, a pretty metallic olive green. I typically go with black or dark brown liner, but I don’t have any natural brand eye liners so I decided to stick with the challenge and use my one dark-ish natural eye shadow as liner. I finished my eyes with tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. Ideally I would have used my new W3LL People mascara from the New Naturals box, but I had recently opened a new tube of the tarte mascara so I didn’t want to crack open a second tube just yet.

I confess that I used one not-really-natural product almost without thinking: Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara, which I use to tame my brows. It’s such a basic part of my makeup routine that I grabbed it and swiped it on before realizing I was cheating a bit. I hope you forgive me for this transgression.  😛

To highlight, I patted rms beauty living luminizer along the tops of my cheekbones and  in the inner corner of my eyes, and completed my look with ILIA Beauty Lip Gloss in Peek-a-Boo from the New Naturals box.

Et voilà (or…”Viola Davis!” as Titus Andromedon would say): the finished look!

I was happy with the end result! I normally rely on one of my many Urban Decay Naked eye shadow palettes to do my eyes before going out and will continue to use them because I’ve spent good money on them. But it’s nice to know it’s possible to do my whole face with natural makeup products that actually deliver the goods. Next on my list of green makeup to try out: eye liner as well as more variety in eye shadow colors and formulas.

Eventually I’ll clean up my makeup act. Baby steps!
