1. Evolution Salt Co. Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamp: I’ve been wanting to get one of these babies for some time now, and when I saw that Thrive Market sells them for 33-40% off I knew it was time. When I first signed up for Thrive Market they were unfortunately out of stock, but they recently came back in stock so I ordered the “natural” shape for $19.95! When heated, Himalayan crystal salt is supposed to help cleanse the air and neutralize things like dust, pollen, and mold. I admit that I haven’t done enough research to fully understand the science behind this yet, but aside from that I simply think this lamp is beautiful. I mean…just look at that gorgeous glow. I might even have feelings for the lamp (sorry, John). Like Brick Tamland, I Love Lamp.

#tbt to Fifth Grade
This week’s Throwback Thursday is my school photo from fifth grade, so it was taken in 1988 or 1989.
Those light blue translucent glasses that were too big for my face! That splatter paint t-shirt! That silvery scrunchie that matched the silver splatter on my shirt!
I actually made that shirt myself; back in the day there was this splatter paint store (I believe it was located in a Creve Coeur or Town & Country strip mall) where you could pick out a t-shirt and the staff would mount it on this splatter paint wheel. Then you got to choose the colors you wanted to splatter your shirt with, and they’d throw the paint on the wheel and spin it around…et voilà : a splatter paint tee. Did any of you have one of these these places in your town? These shirts were OH SO COOL in St. Louis at the time, at least in my school. I mean, look how amazing I was. 😛

Green Makeup Find: Vapour Organic Beauty
I believe I first heard of Vapour Organic Beauty on Grimm actress Claire Coffee‘s blog, Full Disclothesure (which I recommend, BTW—she doesn’t post often, but her posts are well written and funny, and it’s nice to see a celebrity writing her own stuff and being so down-to-earth about it). Claire had high praise for Vapour’s foundation and primer, which piqued my interest, as I had started (slowly but surely) trying to green my beauty and skin care routine. According to the brand’s website their products are 100% natural, containing 70% organic ingredients and 30% mineral pigments and essential oils. The products are also cruelty free, so no bun-buns are harmed in the process.

1. Makeup Brush Washing—A Spring Cleaning Must: I’ve been doing a bit of spring cleaning here and there, so I also made it a point to wash my makeup brushes. I confess that I don’t wash them as often as I really should (though I definitely do it more often than spring cleaning time), but it doesn’t take long and is a must for preventing the growth of bacteria!

#tbt To That Time I Got Jennie Garth’s Autograph
For this Throwback Thursday I’m pulling a photo from the vault in which my friend and I are getting Jennie Garth’s autograph during some sort of convention (maybe an auto show?) in St. Louis. I was in sixth or seventh grade, so this was in 1990 or 1991—a time when Beverly Hills, 90210 was SERIOUSLY HOT STUFF and celebrities appeared at conventions completely unrelated to their shows to sign autographs.
That’s me in the big red glasses, seriously washed out by the flash, and my friend is in the purple sweatshirt getting Jennie’s autograph. I’d like to point out my excellent sartorial choices: a Polo shirt (which I think was pink) under a giant black sweatshirt and my favorite blue Umbro shorts, which were all the rage at the time. Meanwhile, Ms. Garth was in an adorable flower print dress and looked perfect, of course. I feel like she was wearing cowboy boots with the dress, but I might be making that up. I’d also like to point out the creeper in the hat behind my friend who’s staring intently at Jennie. Shudder.
I think I still have the autographed head shot somewhere, probably in my closet at my parents’ house. I’ll have to dig around for it next time I’m there!

Stitch Fix: March 2016 Review
My 13th Stitch Fix arrived today, though I had scheduled it for this past Tuesday, March 22. This Fix didn’t even ship until the 21st, so I got it three days later than I had expected. Not a great start, but I was still excited to crack the box open and see what my stylist picked out for me!

1. Fuller House: I wasn’t really planning to watch this reboot even though I watched plenty of the original way back when. But one day I put the pilot on and the nostalgia completely sucked me in. I’ve now finished the first season and can’t wait for the second! By the way, how fantastic do Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, and Candace Cameron Bure look? And where can I get my hands on Kimmy Gibbler’s cat print kimono jacket?!
#tbt to My Most Classic Childhood Pic
On this Throwback Thursday I’m sharing the quintessential “Little Herman” photo: me at age three, clutching my ratty old Herry Monster stuffed animal. I believe this was a pre-school photo taken at B’Nai Amoona in St. Louis, where I attended for a year or two. I honestly don’t remember anything about my life at that time other than the fact that I carried Herry Monster around with me everywhere, which is why he looks quite worse for the wear after only three years!

1. GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! Specifically my two favorites, Samoas and Thin Mints. It pays to have nieces who are Girl Scouts! Leonardo DiCaprio opening a box of Girl Scout cookies at the Oscars is me right now (But…Trefoils, Leo? We all expected more from you). NOM NOM NOM.

Sephora VIB Reward: tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Sampler
Last week I received an email from Sephora informing me about their newest VIB reward sampler and I knew I had to order something so that I could get my hands on it. So what was the sampler that motivated me to pull the trigger on the Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50 sitting in my cart? It’s a five-piece “discovery and skin care set” from tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea collection, which I’ve been reading about and was excited to try for myself!
