I took unofficial break from buying beauty products for a bit because I bought a lot in the fall and early winter. After the New Year I ordered a few goodies but didn’t have an opportunity to take decent pics and write about them until after our move!
ColourPop recently released a line of BFF Mascaras in seven shades. As soon as I found out about them, I knew I had to try them! So I placed an order for a bunch of fun items:
Another brand sent me a gift! I don’t know if I’ll ever cease to be surprised and honored to receive a PR package. Dr. Brandt Skincare sent me the needles no more® Neck Sculpting Cream with Gua Sha technique, and the package is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Dr. Brandt!!

I’m skipping my Friday Five this week because we moved into our new home on Tuesday and I’m already behind on a bunch of blog posts. I want to get to writing them ASAP! So in lieu of Friday Five, here are the products I emptied in January.
My January Play! by Sephora box arrived last week but it’s taken me awhile to sit down and write a post because we moved into our new home on Tuesday! This post may feel a little scattered…if so, it’s because my life is literally scattered all around the new house right now. I did manage to film an unboxing video before our move, which you can take a gander at here:
1. Drunk Elephant A-Passioni: I’ve been hearing so much about the great things retinol can do for skin. So when Drunk Elephant recently released a retinol cream, I had to buy it! I actually didn’t use my own money—I had procured a $100 Sephora gift card using Rouge points, so I made the purchase with the gift card. SCORE! I haven’t started using A-Passioni yet because my skin has been a little upset due to the cold weather. I’ll wait until it has calmed back down and will slowly introduce it into my routine. I’m excited to see how it goes!
I was excited to receive another gift from a brand recently: Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer. I still can’t believe I’ve begun getting opportunities to try complimentary products! To cover a range of skin tones, Jergens thoughtfully included one bottle for fair to medium skin and one bottle for medium to tan skin.
1. Snow Storm: we had our first big snow storm of the year this past weekend. It started on Saturday afternoon and by Monday morning, about 10 or so inches had accumulated. It was beautiful outside the first morning after the snow stopped, but of course it’s slushy and gross out there days later. We might get more this weekend…yikes!
1. Velvet Wrap Dress: John and I went to Brooklyn for his company’s holiday party on Monday. I packed a dress but wanted to browse some boutiques in case I found something I liked better. And I did! At Pinkyotto I bought this beautiful emerald green velvet wrap dress. The dress was a little long since I was wearing flats (stupid feet!), but the party was in our hotel so I didn’t need to set foot outside. It didn’t even occur to me when I first tried the dress on, but when I got dressed for the party I realized why I liked it so much. I LOVED the velvet robes that Olivia wore on The Haunting of Hill House…and this dress reminded me so much of her robes! I now want to live in this dress.
Because I’ve emptied the two Osmosis Skincare products that I was using for my dark spot fading experiment, I figured it was time for an update! I last posted an update six weeks into the experiment and at that time I was already seeing some very slight fading. Let’s jump right in and take a look at my super cool front-facing bathroom mug shots (click on any photo to see a larger version):
1. New Year’s Eve Makeup: we had dinner with another couple on NYE so of course I wanted to get gussied up. I did a glowy face with a subtle soft glam eye and a bold red lip (ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Liquid Courage). The lipstick lasted really well through dinner and lots of drinks! I also busted out my one statement necklace for the occasion.
