After three nights in Paris, it was time to say au revoir to the city of light. On our final morning in Paris, we Ubered to the Gare de Lyon for our train to Geneva, Switzerland. Unfortunately we had to check out of the hotel too early for their breakfast. Instead, we grabbed food in the train station to eat onboard.
In my most recent post I teased an upcoming vacation. Well, that vacation has come and gone, and now it’s time to recap it!
John and I went to Paris, then two different towns in the French Alps, and ended with two days in Geneva, Switzerland. Because our trip was nearly two weeks long, I’ll split my recap into a few parts. These recaps will still be long, but I’ll attempt to keep them as brief as possible. 😛

Hello, September! Pumpkin spice and Halloween shopping season is officially underway, which I’m eternally pumped about. Also exciting is the fact that John and I are going on a big vacation soon! I’ll be sure to post about that when we return.

Time for my final post about San Diego Comic-Con 2023! It always take a little time to come down from the SDCC vibes and re-acclimate to normal life after we return. But at least I have some fun souvenirs to remember our trip by. Here’s my full SDCC 2023 haul:
Time to take an SDCC content break (I still have a haul to post about) with some July 2023 beauty empties! August is here and I’m happy because this month signals the beginning of pumpkin season. Actually, I’ve already seen two pumpkin products at Trader Joe’s. And Starbucks typically releases their fall drinks in late August. I am here for it! Obviously, I’m one of “those people” who cannot wait for summer to be over. Give me the cooler weather and PSLs, please.
An ornate hotel lobby is probably not what you expected to see at the top of this post, right? If you take a closer look at the right of the below photo, you’ll see Wonder Woman playing a harp. That’s because our San Diego Comic-Con 2023 hotel, the Westgate Hotel, hosts afternoon tea—and during SDCC, a costumed harpist played in the lobby during tea time. This is one of the things I love about SDCC: many local businesses get in on the nerdiness. It fosters such a fun geek vibe!
Our tenth wedding anniversary was last week! I cannot believe it has already been ten years since we got married at the San Diego courthouse the day before San Diego Comic-Con 2013. To celebrate, we flew to San Diego a few days prior to SDCC 2023 for a little getaway on Shelter Island. For our stay we selected Kona Kai, a resort with views of downtown San Diego, and it was a really nice spot for our celebration.
My thirteenth San Diego Comic-Con is fast approaching, along with my 10th wedding anniversary! It was SO fun to return to SDCC last year after the pandemic shut it down for two years. SDCC 2023 promises to be quite different because of the two Hollywood strikes (writers and actors guilds).
With major studios skipping SDCC 2023, the panel schedule feels rather sparse compared to recent years. Most writers and actors won’t be able to attend to promote anything they’re working on with studios, though they can go to promote comic books or other projects they’re involved with outside their guilds. Will the exhibit hall be more packed than usual since there aren’t as many panels to spread attendees around throughout the convention center? We’ll find out soon.
Each year I like to share a post offering tips for SDCC newbies based on my own con-going experience. VERY long post ahead, nerds!
1. Summer Haircut: I needed a haircut pretty badly so I got one earlier this week. Our tenth wedding anniversary and San Diego Comic-Con are around the corner so I wanted a fresh ‘do for our trip. It feels so much better now!
My birthday month has come to a close, and it was a great one! It’s nice to feel like life has basically gone back to normal. I emptied a fair amount of products last month, and had a few items to declutter as well.
