The Body Essentials Set

Earlier this fall, personal care brand Nécessaire reached out and offered to send me The Body Essentials Set, which I gratefully accepted. Thank you so much, Nécessaire!

Nécessaire The Body Essentials
Simple, gender-neutral packaging

I’ve seen influencers rave about Nécessaire’s scented products, but because my body skin is so sensitive, I requested the Fragrance-Free set. This set includes three full-sized products: The Body Wash, The Body Exfoliator, and The Body Lotion. In addition to Fragrance-Free, the Body Wash and Body Exfoliator are available in three scents: Eucalyptus, Sandalwood, and Bergamot. The Body Lotion is only available in Fragrance-Free.

The set retails for $60, a $20 savings. Individually, the Body Wash retails for $25, the Body Exfoliator is $30, and the Body Lotion is $25. So if you’re interested in all three products, the set is definitely a good value.

About Nécessaire

Nécessaire (French for “necessary”) is a clean personal care brand that treats body care like facial care. Accordingly, their products contain active facial care ingredients. Their formulas omit a variety of potentially harmful ingredients: parabens, phthalates, sulfates, silicones, petro-chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and synthetic dyes.

The brand also cares about sustainability, so product boxes use 85% post-consumer waste; boxes and shippers use 100% recyclable paper. Additionally, the brand only works with Forest Stewardship Council-certified vendors. No virgin forest materials are ever used. The products are vegan, so that’s a bonus for anyone avoiding products containing animal-derived ingredients.

Black Friday: A Complimentary Body Serum

As a Nécessaire Ambassador, I wanted to share the brand’s Black Friday offer details: this Thursday, 11/26, through Monday, 11/30, all purchases made on Necessaire.com will receive a full sized bottle of The Body Serum ($45 value; while supplies last). I personally have not tried the serum so I can’t vouch for it, but if you’re a fan of the product or have been wanting to try it, now’s a great time. Nécessaire has plenty of body care sets that would make excellent holiday gifts (for yourself as well!). The promotion will be applied at checkout…and don’t forget it’s only good while supplies last. I’m kinda eyeing the fragrance-free Body Ritual set myself.  😛

The Body Wash

Now, on to the body care products. I actually bought a bottle of The Body Wash from Sephora.com even before Nécessaire reached out to me, but had yet to try it.

The Body Wash comes in a recyclable 8.4 oz bottle with a twist cap for easy dispensing. Key ingredients are three oils—marula, cacay, and meadowfoam—to soften and nourish the skin. The wash is formulated with a pH level of 5.5 to 6.5 to help maintain a natural pH balance and avoid disrupting the skin’s moisture barrier.

The Body Wash, Fragrance-Free

I’ve been loving the Body Wash; I use it just about every day in the shower, unless I’m using the Body Exfoliator (we’ll get to that next). I’m near emptying the bottle that Nécessaire sent me, but I also still have the bottle I had already purchased. The wash lathers well and rinses easily, and my skin feels noticeably soft. I wish I could use a fun scent, but I really appreciate that they offer fragrance-free products for sensitive skin folks like me. I haven’t found this wash to irritate my skin at all. My only complaint is that the product is pretty pricey for the size. I hope the brand considers releasing value sizes of their products. That would be more eco-friendly in addition to being wallet-friendly!

The Body Exfoliator

Body exfoliators can be tricky; how many greasy tubs of harsh scrubs are on the market? There’s nothing worse than a scrub that leaves your tub or shower a big slippery mess. The Body Exfoliator is the opposite of that nonsense. This product comes in a 6.1 oz tube and is meant to be used once or twice a week in lieu of The Body Wash. It’s a combo physical-chemical exfoliant containing pumice and bamboo charcoal (physical) as well as glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids (chemical) to soften skin. It’s also pH balanced for skin at a level of 5.2 to 6.2.

The Body Exfoliator, Fragrance-Free

I’m also really enjoying this exfoliator, which I use once a week. You can see the tiny bits of charcoal start to dissolve as you rub the product into your skin, and it foams up in the process. There’s no greasiness whatsoever, so no need to clean your shower every time you use it. I haven’t experienced irritation with this product either. This will be especially good to use on my legs in the winter, because they get so dry and flaky.

The Body Lotion

The final product in the set is The Body Lotion, which, as mentioned above, only comes in Fragrance-Free. This product comes in a 6.8 oz tube and contains the same three moisturizing oils as the wash: marula, cacay, and meadowfoam, as well as niacinamide for restoring and strengthening skin. The lotion’s pH level is 4.75 to 5.75.

The Body Lotion, Fragrance-Free

I apply the lotion to my legs after showering, and I haven’t found it to irritate my skin either. I’ve used so many body care products that make me itch, so I’m always happy to find products that don’t cause issues! The lotion absorbs well and leaves my skin feeling soft. I don’t apply it anywhere other than my lower legs, because I hate the feeling of lotion on the rest of my body. But it’s serving its purpose on my legs.  🙂

In Summary

All in all, I’m impressed with Nécessaire’s Body Care Set. They’re working well for my very sensitive body skin, and I would buy all of these products on my own. I want to say a big thank you again to Nécessaire for sending me these products to try out!
