Five Late Summer Things
1. Deadpool & Wolverine Funko Pops: I’m still obsessed with this record-breaking movie that I had the privilege of watching in Hall H at SDCC. John and I saw the movie last weekend and I enjoyed the hell out of it the second time around. After returning from San Diego, I saw on Instagram that Funko had Pops of these best bubs. Obviously, I ordered both immediately. They’ll be a cute reminder of the all-timer experience that I had in Hall H!
2. Urban Decay Naked Palette: I loved this iconic palette when it first released at least 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I pretty much destroyed my OG Naked during an ill-fated effort to depot the shades. I had actually hit pan on one or two shadows in this palette, which indicates how much I liked it. For some reason, Urban Decay discontinued the palette a few years back. But! They recently re-released it as a limited edition palette. On the appointed re-release date I ordered one from Ulta (they’re only selling the palette there and on UD’s website). I am so happy that I got my hands on this re-release! So pretty.
3. Basket Case: my friend’s husband is a horror fan, and he recently went to a screening in NY of a film by Frank Henenlotter, director of Basket Case. I adore this batshit 1980’s horror film, and my friend’s husband very thoughtfully brought an extra copy of the DVD with him so he could have the director sign it for me!! How nice is he?! Thank you SO MUCH, R!! Fun fact: some scenes of the movie were filmed in the same building where John and I used to work together in NYC. SUCH a small world!
4. Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid [gifted via Influenster; affiliate link]: I recently received not one, but two Gucci beauty products via Influenster! The first one is the new Gorgeous Orchid Eau de Parfum. As an orchid lover, I’m always a little sus when products claim to have an orchid fragrance. That’s because most typical household orchids don’t have a fragrance. But this scent leans on vanilla, which actually does come from the Vanilla planifolia orchid. I’m very picky about fragrances but this one is nice; it has warmth and sweetness from the vanilla but that sweetness is cut by something sharper that I can’t quite identify. Pepper, maybe? I’m not great at picking up fragrance notes. Anyway, I will absolutely wear this perfume and am very happy to have received it compliments of Influenster and Gucci!
5. Gucci Rouge à Lèvres Satin Lipstick [gifted via Influenster; affiliate link]: I also received this beautiful lipstick in the shade 223 Isabelle Rosewood. The gold etched lipstick case is stunning, and the lipstick inside is a red-brown rose shade that I think will be quite lovely for fall. The satin finish is totally up my alley, too. I always appreciate receiving products like this to try for free!!
