The recent news about the terrible flooding in West Virginia made me think of my maternal grandparents, who lived in Charleston, WV. We called them Mama and Papa, pronounced like “Muh-maw” and “Puh-paw.” So today’s Throwback Thursday is a photo of me, Mama, Papa, and my sister as an infant.
From what I can gather, this might have been the first time Mama and Papa met my sister. It appears that we’re in my parents’ house in St. Louis, so they must have come to visit and meet her. Judging from my baby sis’s age, their visit might also have been for my birthday—my sister was born on April 24 and I turned three on June 13. Though Mama and Papa are no longer with us, I have fond memories of going to visit them in Charleston and playing in the creepy attic of their house. And I actually have a beautiful vanity table and dresser from their home. 🙂
