A Small(ish) Fall Haul

The Sephora Fall Savings event took place recently. This time, I didn’t even put together recommendation lists on ShopMy. The sale kinda snuck up on me…and I wasn’t planning on buying a ton. As you can see in the photo below, my first order was relatively small.

I did end up placing a second, smaller order of a few additional items:

Second Sephora Fall Rouge Haul

I’ve received a bunch of skin care gifts from brands recently and have a bit of a backlog. So I really didn’t need much new skin care. And I have a lot of makeup, which I love, but I don’t actually wear it all that often. So I didn’t go overboard with buying new makeup either.

Because my haul was somewhat small, I didn’t film a video going through my purchases. But of course I’m writing about them here!

The Makeup

The few makeup items I bought are as follows: Hung Vanngo eyeliner, Merit lip liner, Merit brow gel, Danessa Myricks Colorfix Stix, YSL Lip Oil, Westman Atelier Highlighter Stick.

Here are some messy swatches of the above makeup items…while I’m not great at swatching, the shades are all beautiful. The swatches are in the same order from top to bottom as the products in the above photo (with the third and fourth swatches being Danessa Myricks Colorfix Stix in Interstellar and Mystic Taupe).

I think these shades will all work really well on me!

I didn’t swatch the Merit brow gel because I’m not ready to open it yet. The Merit lip liners are SO good…I already have four of the shades but had been wanting to add Bespoke to my collection. So I finally have that one. I also already have one of the Danessa Myricks Colorfix Stix (in Celeste and Nova) and I love it as well. It’s easy to use, feels cooling, and adds a gorgeous sparkle to any look. So I wanted to get a second duo to play around with.

I want to drill down a little on a couple of the makeup items that I bought…

The YSL lip oil was kind of an impulse purchase when I spotted it online while browsing. I haven’t bought any YSL beauty products in a really long time, so I decided to try this new and very pretty limited edition shade.

That said…I may need to return this lip product. I tried it on and my lips immediately started burning, so I wiped it off and applied Vaseline to soothe my lips. Currently, my face is healing from a laser treatment and I’ve been doing vinegar soaks (recommended by my derm) to help slough dead skin away. A bit of vinegar has gotten on my lips so I feel like they are a little extra sensitive at the moment. Once I feel like my lips are back to normal I’ll spot test this gloss and see if my lips react again. If so, this is going straight back to the store.

I LOVE the Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Stick mini that I already have in Petal; it goes in my makeup bag every time I travel. So I really wanted to try this sheer glossy highlighter stick in the same shade. It seems like it’ll be a very nice complement to the Baby Cheeks blush.
