A Very Drag-y Week

1. RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World Live: I mentioned my obsession with Drag Race in my most recent Friday Five post. Awhile back, John discovered that the live tour featuring queens from the show was coming to DC, so we bought tickets. The show was this past weekend, and it was a total blast! We got to see Jimbo, Daya Betty, Kim Chi, Jorgeous, Vanessa Vanjie, and Jaida Essence Hall do their thing live. And they were all incredible! I would definitely try to buy closer seats next time…we were pretty far back, so I don’t have any good photos. This is kind of the best I can share:

2. The Boulet Brothers Dragula Season 666 Tour: another drag competition series that I’ve gotten into much more recently is this filth, horror, and glamour competition show on Shudder. As soon as I heard that this tour was coming to DC, I bought tickets. THEN I started bingeing the show so that I could be familiar with the performers. I’m loving Dragula (it’s right up my alley) and the live show was SO MUCH FUN. Again, my photos are pretty poor quality but I couldn’t not talk about the show here. And, as a super cool surprise, Grey Matter (one of my faves!!) was taking photos with fans in the theater lobby after the show. So I have a photo with Grey! So fucking awesome!

3. Billy Goat Trail Section A Hike: on Labor Day morning, we headed to Great Falls to try this trail that John has done before. I had been intimidated by it because it’s labeled as “technical and strenuous” on the National Parks Service website. But I’m feeling pretty fit these days so I decided I wanted to try it. And I succeeded! I wouldn’t even say that the hike felt difficult for me. That said, it wasn’t easy, especially scrambling over some of the rockier areas. And the vertical rock ascent looked intimidating but I didn’t struggle much to climb on up. I felt super accomplished afterward, and of course treated myself to my first Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew of the season!

4. NECA x Ben Cooper Halloween Costume Kids: I LOVED these toys when I saw them in the NECA booth at SDCC this summer. They weren’t selling them at SDCC, but when we came home from the con I looked them up and found that they were available for pre-sale. So I pre-ordered this set of five figurines, and they arrived recently. HOW CUTE ARE THEY?! I love each of them and will be keeping them in their boxes.

5. Lush Halloween Soaps: yep, Halloween season is officially in full swing! We went to the mall to see a movie a couple weekends ago, so I stopped in at Lush to see what sort of goodies they had. I picked up two soaps that smell so good. I wish I could go ham on bath bombs, but our tub isn’t big enough for relaxing baths. So I stick to non-bath items from Lush. The one on the left is called Ghost in the Dark, and the one on the right is called Demon in the Dark. These are so cute! I’m about to start using Ghost in the Dark. YAY SPOOKY SEASON!
